1. Measure your pet's shoulder height (floor to top of shoulders). The pet should be able to pass through an 11.8 in tall opening — allow a comfortable extra inch so the pet walks through naturally.
2. Measure your pet's head and shoulder width across the widest point; it should be comfortably less than 9.4 in wide.
3. Measure the thickness of the door or panel where you'll install the flap — the frame depth is 1.6 in; ensure the installation style and included hardware will work with your door thickness.
• Quick rule: if your pet's shoulder height is under ~10.5 in and head width is under ~8.5–9 in, this flap will be an easy fit. If your pet is near the upper ranges, allow a little extra space for comfortable passage.
